Over the past week, 2,609 additional people tested positive for coronavirus, and 27 people died of COVID-19, bringing the countywide total to 30,085 cases and 968 deaths.

Nine of the individuals who died of COVID-19 resided in a long-term care facility. Of the new cases, 129 of the new cases are in long-term care facilities. None of the reported positive COVID-19 cases resulted from antibody testing. More information is included in the linked weekly report.

“This week we saw the first doses of the vaccine given to our frontline hospital workers in Montgomery County. As we continue to vaccinate the frontline workforce of our community, everyone should be hopeful that in a few short months this safe and effective vaccine will be available for all our residents,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “As a reminder, the safest way to celebrate winter holidays is with the people you live with. If you gather with others, please remember to choose outdoor or well-ventilated spaces and wear a mask that covers both your mouth and nose. Stay at least 6 feet apart from people you don’t live with, and wash your hands often.”

The Hub hosts the County’s COVID-19 maps, data, and charts that show the number of daily cases and deaths related to COVID-19, including hospitalizations and ventilator use.
