[ARCHIVED] Upcoming event

2019 Main Street Greenways 800x562

Register today for Transforming Our Downtowns into Main Street Greenways, which will take place from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (registration check-in is 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) in Lansdale Borough Hall, One Vine Street, Lansdale, PA 19446. Communities are now strengthening connections between their downtowns and nearby trails, stream valleys, and open spaces. Establishing the downtown as an extension of these greenway systems enhances vibrancy and fosters economic development.

This event will demonstrate how to transform a downtown into a Main Street Greenway by focusing on ways to make it more walkable, greener, and environmentally sustainable. These three fundamental principles will be explained through examples from many of Montgomery County’s boroughs and villages. Participants will have an opportunity to take a walking tour of a local downtown to practice recognizing specific improvement opportunities, which they can use to make their own downtown into a Main Street Greenway.

The event is part of Planning Smarter Montco 2019, a Montgomery County initiative offering planning education and outreach, and corresponds to the Connected Communities theme contained in Montco 2040: A Shared Vision, Montgomery County’s comprehensive plan. Join us to explore this interesting topic!
