School Vaccine Law Changes

The Montgomery County Office of Public Health (OPH) would like to share this important message and the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) link announcing there will be a temporary regulatory suspension of requirements for children’s immunizations for a 2-month period from the beginning of the school year. While this temporary suspension is now in effect, PA DOH and OPH continue to stress the importance of immunizations, both for children and across the lifespan.

It’s the Rule for Back to School.

Each child, K-12 must be immunized by the first day of school and/or have a valid medical certificate, or your school-aged child will not be allowed in school.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is changing school immunization regulation beginning in
August 2017. The regulations are intended to ensure that children attending school in the commonwealth are adequately protected against potential outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases.
