These services combine individual therapy, family therapy, case management services, and crisis support. They are provided in the home and community. Services need to be ordered by a psychologist or psychiatrist, and agreed upon by a team as the best way to help the child and family.
Children up to age 21 can use FBS. They must be at risk of being placed out of their homes because of their mental health issues, or have recently returned from being placed outside the home.
These services are usually provided for up to 8 months, and are based on the needs of each family. Sessions can occur for up to 8 hours per week. They can also include crisis support and case management activities, as needed.
FBS is provided by a team of professionals with master’s and/or bachelor’s degrees.
